Work Visas – A Comprehensive Approach

Whether you wish to work in the United States, expand your career in Europe, or pursue professional opportunities in countries like Canada and Australia, obtaining the right work visa is the first essential step. The process can vary greatly depending on the country, type of employment, and your qualifications. At Persian Legal Center, through our international network of legal and administrative professionals, we provide tailored guidance to help you select the right visa category and prepare a complete application package.

Legal Framework & Key Requirements

United States (H-1B and Other Employment Visas)

  • The H-1B visa is intended for skilled professionals with at least a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) where the job requires such a qualification.
  • Employers must obtain a certified Labor Condition Application (LCA) from the Department of Labor before submitting Form I-129 to USCIS.
  • Specific conditions apply regarding wages, working conditions, and public access requirements.
  • Other categories include H-2B (temporary non-agricultural workers), L-1A/L-1B (intra-company transfers), O-1 (extraordinary ability), P-1 to P-3 (athletes and artists), R-1 (religious workers), as well as permanent visa categories EB-1 through EB-5, with EB-5 dedicated to investment visas.

Greece / European Union (EU Blue Card, Golden Visa, Work Permits)

  • The EU Blue Card allows highly qualified workers to live and work in EU Member States, provided they hold a university degree (or equivalent professional experience) and have a valid employment contract with a minimum salary threshold.
  • In Greece, applicants must meet the national salary threshold (typically 1.6 × the average gross salary) and provide proof of higher education or professional competence, along with health insurance and a contract of at least one year.
  • The Golden Visa Program grants residency rights through investment in real estate or other eligible sectors. This program is particularly attractive for individuals seeking both residence and business opportunities in the EU.
  • Additional work permits exist for seasonal or specialized employment across EU Member States.

Canada & Australia

  • Both countries operate points-based systems for skilled workers, taking into account age, education, work experience, and language skills.
  • Canada offers temporary and permanent work permits, including the Express Entry system for skilled immigrants.
  • Australia provides Temporary Skill Shortage visas (TSS, subclass 482) and permanent skilled migration options, often tied to labor shortages in specific sectors.
